{"id":160274,"date":"2018-04-17T03:18:15","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T07:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=160274"},"modified":"2018-04-17T03:18:15","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T07:18:15","slug":"albayalde-not-into-releasing-drug-list-to-the-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/04\/17\/albayalde-not-into-releasing-drug-list-to-the-public\/","title":{"rendered":"Albayalde not into releasing \u2018drug list\u2019 to the public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the barangay election\u00a0approaches, Incoming Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde believes that releasing names of running officials linked to the illegal drug industry might not be a good idea as this can be used by politicians to bring down their rivals, even the \u2018guiltless\u2019 ones, because of \u2018envy\u2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Albayalde underscored the importance of \u2018giving due process\u2019 to the accused and stressed that a thorough investigation should be performed before releasing any name to the public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe need to validate and adjudicate, they should be given due process,\u201d Albayalde said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBecause of political rivalry or envy, the list could include names \u2013 even those of the guiltless,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">On the other hand, acting Interior Secretary Eduardo A\u00f1o totally support releasing the names of barangay officials included in the drug list.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">He approves of this so \u201cpeople would have the knowledge or basis on who to vote for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">A<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00f1o<\/span>\u00a0dismissed the idea that this was discriminatory for some because according to him, \u201cpeople are responsible enough to decide and think for themselves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">He added that he would talk to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Aaron N.
