(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pnp.pio\/photos\/a.1988292254545354.1073742104.462115693829692\/1988306957877217\/?type=3&amp;theater\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pnp.pio\/\">Philippine National Police\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Facing the police force in his last flag raising ceremony on Monday, April 16, outgoing Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director Ronald \u201cBato\u201d dela Rosa thanked his men for all their efforts and support during his 21-month term.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNandito ako ngayon sa harapan ninyo<\/em> (I&#8217;m here in front of you) not to brag what about what I have done or what I failed to do. <em>Nandito lang ako sa harapan ninyo ngayon bilang inyong ama ng<\/em> Philippine National Police <em>para magbigay lang ng pasasalamat, iyong taos-pusong pasasalamat ko sa inyong ginawa<\/em> during my term (I&#8217;m only here in front you now as your father of the PNP to give you thanks, my heartfelt gratitude for all you have done during my term),\u201d\u00a0dela Rosa said in a speech at the National Headquarters Building in Camp Crame.<\/p>\n<p>As he nears his retirement, the emotional PNP chief said that he suddenly wanted time to slow down.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cGanon pala ang feeling \u2018non <\/em>(That\u2019s how it feels) if you really love your job, if you really love your job <em>pakiramdam mo gusto mo<\/em> forever <em>eh <\/em>(you feel like you want it forever)<em>.<\/em> <em>Kaya sabi ko akin mga<\/em> aide-de-camp <em>kahit saan tayo magpunta mag-uuniporme na ako dahil ganon ko kamahal ang<\/em> uniform <em>natin <\/em>(So I told my aide-de-camp, I will wear my uniform anywhere we go because that&#8217;s how much I love our uniform<em>),\u201d<\/em> he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Dela Rosa recalled that he was excited months before his retirement, however, his term was extended for three months. \u00a0He added that there was an \u201cextension for indefinite term\u201d but according to him this will not push through so he has to retire.<\/p>\n<p>He further thanked the 180,000-strong policemen for being able to handle demoralizing criticisms well.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSalamat sa inyong magaan na pagha-<\/em>handle<em> ng<\/em> criticism, although <em>nade-<\/em>demoralize<em> kayo <\/em>(Thank you for handling criticisms well, although you were being demoralized) &#8230;It\u2019s part of the job,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>While expressing his gratitude to his men, he also apologized to them if he was not able to meet their expectations.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKung ako man ay naging mabuti o masamang ama ng<\/em> (If I had been a good or a bad father to the) organization I don\u2019t have to brag about it <em>kayo na ang humusga\u00a0<\/em>(you be the judge)<em>. Kung merong pagkukulang, pasensya na kayo; \u2018yun lang ang inabot ng aking kakayanan<\/em> (If there were shortcomings, I&#8217;m sorry; it was all that I could do)<em>,\u201d<\/em> dela Rosa explained.<\/p>\n<p>The top cop noted that he did everything he could as their leader.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cKung hindi ko inabot iyong<\/em> level <em>ng<\/em> expectation <em>ninyo<\/em> I am very sorry <em>\u2018yun lang talaga ang nakaya ng isang<\/em> chief PNP <em>na probinsiyano. Uulit-ulitin ko man <\/em>(If I was not able to reach your expectation, I am very sorry; that was all a PNP chief who came from the province can do.
