File photo: PhilNews<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">MANILA &#8212; Mild earthquakes shook the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Cagayan on Wednesday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the first quake with a magnitude of 3.0 occurred at 12:20 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The epicenter of the quake was traced some 19 kilometers southeast of Carasi in ilocos Norte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The quake, which was tectonic in origin, had a depth of 12 kilometers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The second quake with a magnitude 3.4 occurred around 12:58 a.m. with the epicenter traced some 40 kilometers northwest of Burgos in Surigao del Norte.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The quake, which was also tectonic in origin, had a depth of eight kilometers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">On the other hand, the other tremor with a magnitude of 4.1 happened at 9:54 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Phivolcs said its epicenter was estimated 102 kilometers northwest of Calayan in Cagayan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">It said the temblor, which was also tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 28 kilometers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">Meanwhile, Phivolcs said there was no damage reported from the three tremors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">It added that no aftershocks are expected from these quakes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;\">The Philippines lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, where 20 to 25 earthquakes per day &#8212; mostly imperceptible &#8212; are common, Phivolcs said.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Mild earthquakes shook the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Surigao del Norte, and Cagayan on Wednesday, according to the &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":12609,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[95],"tags":[417],"class_list":["post-15955","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-news-ph","tag-earthquake","mauthors-philippines-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15955","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/44"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=15955"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15955\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/12609"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=15955"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=15955"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=15955"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
