{"id":155715,"date":"2018-03-08T22:09:52","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T03:09:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=155715"},"modified":"2018-03-08T22:09:52","modified_gmt":"2018-03-09T03:09:52","slug":"ict-critical-in-effective-teaching-deped","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/03\/08\/ict-critical-in-effective-teaching-deped\/","title":{"rendered":"ICT critical in effective teaching: DepEd"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_12666\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12666\" style=\"width: 465px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DepEd.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12666\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DepEd.png\" alt=\"Wikipedia Photo\" width=\"465\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DepEd.png 465w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/DepEd-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 465px) 100vw, 465px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12666\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wikipedia Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA \u2014<\/strong>\u00a0Teachers are urged to devise various teaching methods that instill creativity and critical thinking among learners through Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said.<\/p>\n<p>During the recent National DepEd ICT Summit, Briones emphasized the importance of integrating ICT in both teaching and governance for the delivery of quality, accessible, and relevant basic education for Filipino students.<\/p>\n<p>Through ICT innovations, Briones said time will come when schoolchildren no longer have to carry books in their backpacks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Ngayon napakarami nang<\/em>\u00a0technologies,\u00a0<em>napakarami nang<\/em>\u00a0gadgets, which make us do so many things and achieve so many goals and projects all at the same time\u2026\u00a0<em>Kayang-kaya na nating mag-<\/em>multi-task (There are a lot of technologies today, there are so many gadgets, which make us do so many things and achieve so many goals and projects all at the same time\u2026We surely can multi-task,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Briones also said that since DepEd is a &#8220;mammoth institution&#8221;, ICT can help the department in the fast-tracking of processes in the department with thousands of teaching and non-teaching personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to overhaul the information system of the entire department\u2014the financial management system, accounting system, budget system, and all other processes,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Briones said that non-tech-savvy teachers and school personnel handling ICT concerns must undergo appropriate training.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMalaking bagay \u2018yung<\/em>\u00a0capacity building\u00a0<em>ng<\/em>\u00a0teachers and personnel.\u00a0<em>Kasi isipin ninyo, \u2018yung<\/em>\u00a0secretary,\u00a0<em>hindi masyadong marunong sa<\/em>\u00a0ICT\u00a0<em>eh<\/em>\u2026 So even I, myself, have to upgrade my skills and knowledge in ICT (Capacity building of teachers and personnel is a big thing.
