ROBINSON NI\u00d1AL JR.\/PRESIDENTIAL PHOTO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday praised United States (US) President Donald Trump for reportedly wanting to follow his controversial campaign against illegal drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWas it yesterday or the other day? <em>Tignan mo \u2018yung<\/em> (Look at the) front page <em>ng <\/em>(of) either Bulletin or <em>\u2018yung<\/em> Philippine Star. \u2018Trump: we would like to follow Duterte because they have no problem in the Philippines, he just killed them\u2019,\u201d Duterte said in a speech before policemen, soldiers, jail officers in Davao City.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cTama ka talaga<\/em> Trump. <em>Bilib ako sa iyo. Nagsasabi ka ng totoo <\/em>(You are right Trump. I\u2019m impressed with you. You are telling the truth)<em>,\u201d<\/em> he added.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte said that he would want drug personalities to fight back so they could be counteracted by arresting legislators.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBakit kung lumaban ka, hindi kita patayin? Hay naku, yan nga ang gusto ko. Mas gusto ko lumaban ka<\/em>\u00a0(Why, if you fight, won&#8217;t I kill you? My goodness, that&#8217;s what I like. I want you to fight)<em>,\u201d<\/em> he said.<\/p>\n<p>Duterte was referring to an Axios report where Trump was reported to have said that he would love to have a law executing all drug personalities in the U.S., thinking that drug dealers are the same with serial killers and deserve the death penalty.<\/p>\n<p>However, Trump admitted that it would not be easy to get this harsh punishment passed under the American system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know the Chinese and Filipinos don\u2019t have a drug problem. They just kill them,&#8221; Axios quoted Trump as saying.<\/p>\n<p>During his speech, the President also said that the United States has started its own \u201cTokhang\u201d campaign by conducting anti-drug operations to nab alleged drug dealers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were able to capture a website <em>tapos lahat ng<\/em> transactions <em>sa droga, inagaw nila <\/em>(They were able to capture a website and they seized all drug transactions)<em>,\u201d<\/em> Duterte said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDinetain nila<\/em> incommunicado <em>\u2018yung mga<\/em> drug people and they operated it. So <em>nalaman nila lahat, lahat tino-tokhang <\/em>(They detain drug people incommunicado and they operated it.
