I can get used to this office,” Bela caption on her Instagram post – as she seemed to enjoy a sunny day at the beach, by the waves and the white sand. A happy post from the 26-year old actress and writer somehow attracted unwanted attention to her exposed stomach.

Several netizens chose to laugh at her ‘protruding belly’ – but Bela had a real comeback to these nitpickers.

“Shocked by the number of comments on my IG post, pointing out that I have a belly,” she took to Twitter.

“Yes I do. It holds in my organs that I need to live. It has a layer of muscles that I worked hard for in the gym and a layer of fat from the food I enjoy to eat,” she added.

She ended by saying, “Deal with it. Plus I’m seated.”

Just when her followers thought her comeback was over, she tweeted in a more serious tone, this time addressing a message to the youth.

“Would it have made you more comfortable if I edited my photo to perfection? Because I could have easily done that,” Bela wrote.

“But what message does it send to the younger ones? That our photos are only likeable when we’re perfect in photos? Not from me. Never,” she continued.

Bela quickly got the support of more users, who praised her for being real and being an inspiration.

“I’ve always been keen on choosing photos to upload on Instagram or on any social media making sure I didn’t look fat or what not. But Bela Padilla chose to upload the photo that made her happy – despite the belly,” Czarina Rae, Twitter user @ohyeahCzarina said, which got a retweet from the actress herself.

Another twitter user @luna_wanderlust told Bela, “Thanks Bela for the advocacy. Social media has degraded our values so much that we seek for perfection in things that have no value. As cliché as it gets, beauty would always start from within.
