{"id":15454,"date":"2014-06-17T00:45:13","date_gmt":"2014-06-16T16:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=15454"},"modified":"2014-06-17T00:45:13","modified_gmt":"2014-06-16T16:45:13","slug":"napoles-children-file-motion-to-defer-arrest-warrants-and-dismissal-of-the-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/06\/17\/napoles-children-file-motion-to-defer-arrest-warrants-and-dismissal-of-the-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Napoles&#8217; children file motion to defer arrest warrants and dismissal of the case"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_11835\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11835\" style=\"width: 643px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Napoles-family.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-11835\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Napoles-family.jpg\" alt=\"Napoles family at daughter Jeane's (orange dress) birthday party.\" width=\"643\" height=\"355\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Napoles-family.jpg 643w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Napoles-family-300x165.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 643px) 100vw, 643px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11835\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Napoles family at daughter Jeane&#8217;s (orange dress) birthday party.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Now its Janet Lim-Napoles children&#8217;s turn to file a motion before the Sandiganbayan to defer the issuance of an arrest warrant and to dismiss the case for lack of merit.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Jo Christine and James Napoles filed a 47-page motion before the Sandiganbayan aiming to suspend the proceedings pending the resolution of their instant motion.<\/p>\n<p>Respondents on the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam insist in their motion that there is no probable cause for the issuance of an arrest warrant.<\/p>\n<p>The two Napoles children, Jo Christine and James,claimed that they are not officers nor members of any of the bogus foundations of their mother Janet Lim-Napoles.<\/p>\n<p>They argued in their motion that there is also no proof that they signed documents related to pork barrel projects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They were only dragged into this case by unfounded and sweeping verbal allegations made by the principal conspirators&#8230;&#8221; the motion read.<\/p>\n<p>Jo Christine and James Christopher are co-accused in the graft charges for their alleged involvement in the pork barrel scam.<\/p>\n<p>Facing plunder and graft cases are Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Ombudsman found probable cause to indict Revilla with one count of plunder and 16 counts of graft; Enrile with one count of plunder and 15 counts of graft; and Estrada with one count of plunder and 11 counts of graft.
