{"id":153184,"date":"2018-02-16T22:08:17","date_gmt":"2018-02-17T03:08:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=153184"},"modified":"2018-02-16T22:08:17","modified_gmt":"2018-02-17T03:08:17","slug":"body-of-slain-ofw-in-kuwait-arrives-in-ph","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/02\/16\/body-of-slain-ofw-in-kuwait-arrives-in-ph\/","title":{"rendered":"Body of slain OFW in Kuwait arrives in PH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>MANILA &#8212;<\/strong>\u00a0The remains of slain overseas Filipino worker (OFW) Joanna Demafelis arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport&#8217;s (NAIA) cargo terminal on Friday via Gulf Air flight GF 154 from Bahrain.<br \/>\nAuthorities from the Department of Labor and Employment&#8217;s Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said Demafelis&#8217; body would be flown to Iloilo, her hometown, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, Demafelis worked as a domestic worker in Kuwait. She was murdered and was placed in a freezer.<\/p>\n<p>Based on autopsy reports, Demafelis was tortured, had broken ribs, internal bleeding, contusion, and trauma in pelvis and kidney area.<\/p>\n<p>Kuwait authorities are still looking for Demafelis&#8217; former employers, who are believed to have escaped the country.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, as the body of Demafelis was discovered last week, the Philippine government is currently considering a total deployment ban of OFWs to Kuwait.
