(Shutterstock)\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/shutterstock_279099371.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/shutterstock_279099371-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/shutterstock_279099371-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-124288\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FILE: Harvey Weinstein (Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>New York&#8217;s attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein and the Weinstein Co. following an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>In court papers filed in Manhattan on Sunday, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman (SHNEYE&#8217;-dur-muhn) says the Weinstein Co. \u201crepeatedly broke New York law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Schneiderman says any sale of the company \u201cmust ensure that victims will be compensated\u201d and that employees will be protected.<\/p>\n<p>Schneiderman launched a civil rights probe into the New York City-based company in October after The New York Times and The New Yorker exposed allegations of sexual assault and harassment spanning decades.
