He did not specify any prospect sellers.<\/p>\n<p>Roque was responding to the announcement of the Canadian government to review the deal amounting to $233.36 million or about P12 billion.<\/p>\n<p>(Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/02\/08\/canadian-govt-to-review-helicopter-deal-with-ph\/\">Canadian gov\u2019t to review helicopter deal with PH<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>According to Canada\u2019s Trade Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, the said deal struck in 2012 agreed that the helicopters would be used for search-and-rescue missions.<\/p>\n<p>However, Major-General Restituto Padilla, military chief of plans, in a Reuters report, noted that the helicopters could be of help for search-and-rescue operations for disaster relief operations, but said that \u201cthe helicopters will be used for the military\u2019s internal security operations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was in line with President Rodrigo Duterte\u2019s armed forces modernization program.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, the Philippines through Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana formally signed with Canadian Commercial Corporation, to purchase 16 helicopters.<\/p>\n<p>The Bell 412EPI choppers will be brought to the country in early 2019.<\/p>\n<p>(Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/02\/07\/ph-signs-233-m-chopper-deal-with-canada-vs-rebels\/\">PH signs $233-M chopper deal with Canada vs. rebels<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we saw that declaration\u2026 we immediately launched a review with the relevant authorities. And we will obviously review the facts and take the right decision,\u201d Champagne told reporters according to another Reuters report.<\/p>\n<p>Roque, however, negated Padilla\u2019s statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Malinaw po ang dahilan kung bakit natin gustong bumili ng<\/em> Bell helicopters. <em>Ito po ay gagamitin para [sa] transportasyon ng<\/em> (The reason why we want to purchase Bell helicopters is clear.
