(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WinGatchalian74\/photos\/a.478619682253531.1073741902.386570178125149\/1588519287930226\/?type=3&amp;theater\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WinGatchalian74\/\">Senator Win Gatchalian\/Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2014 The speedy appointment of new Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioners is critically needed, a senator said Friday noting that it could not lose time as barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections are set this May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is only through a complete and functioning election body that the rigorous demands of its preparations can be eased,\u201d Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said in a press statement.<\/p>\n<p>Gatchalian\u2019s call came after Comelec senior commissioners Christian Robert Lim and Arthur Lim retired.<\/p>\n<p>President Rodrigo Duterte needs to appoint three new Commissioners to complete the seven-man election body.
