MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— The commuting public cannot wait any longer for a better service from the Metro Transit Line-3 (MRT-3), a senator told the Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Senator Nancy Binay made this remark after the DOTr on Monday promised an improvement of MRT-3 services by the end of February this year.<\/p>\n

Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade said the DOTr had already ordered spare parts for the train system.<\/p>\n

Binay pointed out that the train suffered almost daily breakdowns while waiting for the spare parts to arrive.<\/p>\n

“Ilang taon na pong nagtitiis ang ating mga<\/em>\u00a0commuters\u00a0sa mababang kalidad ng serbisyo, at lalo pang lumala ang estado nito sa nagdaang mga araw<\/em>\u00a0(Our commuters have been bearing with poor-quality service for many years and our current state gets worse\u00a0every day),\u201d Binay said in a press statement.<\/p>\n

“Our commuting public cannot wait any longer for a better and commensurate service for the fare they pay,” she added.<\/p>\n

Binay also wanted to know if the public could expect more trains, shorter queues, and more space in stations by February.<\/p>\n

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) terminated its maintenance contract with Busan Universal Rail Inc. (BURI) last November 2017.<\/p>\n

While awaiting the arrival of a new maintenance provider, the DOTr formed a maintenance transition team which was now in charge with the railway’s maintenance and procurement of parts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
