More than 21,000 people from around the world completed the survey.<\/p>\n<p>Canada was ranked first\u00a0in the quality of life category, ahead of Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Australia.\u00a0Overall,\u00a0Canada was ranked second behind Switzerland, scoring 9.9 out of a possible 10.<\/p>\n<p>Quality of life attributes were listed as a\u00a0good job market, affordable, economically stable, family friendly, income equality, politically stable, safe, well-developed public education system, and well-developed public health system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Attributes] are terms that can be used to describe a country and that are also relevant to the success of a modern nation,\u201d said Deirdre McPhillips, data editor for the survey, in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/best-countries\/articles\/methodology\">an article on its methodology<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Canada scored 10 in terms of job market, political stability and safety and 9.9 in terms of well-developed public health and education systems.<\/p>\n<p>This is the third consecutive year that Canada placed first in the quality of life category.<\/p>\n<p>Canada also ranked fourth in citizenship, scoring 9.0 or above on the attributes trustworthy, progressive, gender equality, religious freedom, cares for human rights and respects property rights.<\/p>\n<p>In other rankings that were part of the survey, Canada was named the second most transparent country in the world and third best in terms of education.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second year in a row that Canada placed second in the U.S. News &amp;\u00a0 World Report\u2019s Best Countries list.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new international survey is ranking Canada the second best country in the world to live in, and the first &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":111668,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[23994,44821,398],"class_list":["post-149056","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-immigration","tag-23994","tag-best-countries-survey","tag-canada","mauthors-stephen-smith","mauthors-eman-katem","mauthors-cic-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/149056","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=149056"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/149056\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/111668"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=149056"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=149056"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=149056"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
