FILE: On the morning of January 29, 2015, the remains of the members of the PNP Special Action Force slain in Mamasapano arrived at the Villamor Air Base. MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0— A Catholic priest is hoping that the heroism of the slain 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) would serve as an inspiration to the active members of the police force.<\/p>\n

PNP Chaplain Service Chief of Staff Rev. Fr. Sr. Supt. Arnolfo Castillo believes that the dedication showed by those who perished to defend the country from terrorists should inspire the authorities to do good in their jobs.<\/p>\n

\u201cLagi naming sina<\/em>-sample\u00a0hindi lamang yung<\/em>\u00a0SAF 44\u00a0maging ‘yung<\/em>\u00a0recent (fighting)\u00a0sa<\/em>\u00a0Marawi\u00a0na ang kabayanihan ay bahagi ng paglilingkod<\/em>\u00a0at all times\u00a0ay makapag<\/em>-contribute sa bayan (We always mention not only the SAF 44 but also those who fought in Marawi which remind us that heroism is part of service to the nation at all times),\u201d he said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas.<\/p>\n

\u201cLagi naming pinapa<\/em>-inspire\u00a0ang buhay ng mga kasundaluhan na<\/em>\u00a0many times\u00a0ay malayo sa kanilang pamilya\u00a0<\/em>(We always say that everyone must be inspired by the lives of our troops who are away from their families) and they risk their lives but it\u2019s all because of their love for God, country and the people,\u201d the Catholic priest furthered.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out the honesty, heroism, and the sacrifices they made whenever they go out and fight in a bid to maintain peace in the country.<\/p>\n

Castillo also urged the people to join the nation in commemorating the third anniversary of the bloody encounter in Mamasapano, Maguindanao, by offering prayers to the 44 SAF members and their families.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo\u00a0ini<\/em>-encourage\u00a0na lang na<\/em>\u00a0by region,\u00a0lahat ng<\/em>\u00a0region\u00a0ay tinatawag na<\/em>\u00a0sa<\/em>\u00a0A Day of Remembrance\u00a0ay isama sa misa o kaya<\/em>\u00a0(We encourage every region to join the Day of Remembrance through offering prayers in masses) or spiritual or religious service with respect to other religion.\u00a0Kami naman, sa mga<\/em>\u00a0Catholic chaplain, (As for us Catholic chaplains) we make it sure\u00a0na merong misa sa mga rehiyon ngayon<\/em>\u00a0(that there are masses in the regions today), A Day of Remembrance to honor the life of the troopers\u2026\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

With this, the Catholic Church believed that the investigation on the case should continue to unravel what really transpired during that fateful day and for justice to be served to those who have died in the operation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
