(BBCI), chaired by the eldest son and namesake of billionaire Henry Sy Sr., is investing PHP4 billion to PHP8 billion in the next four years to expand capacity in its bid to meet the increased domestic demand as the government rolls out more infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p>BBCI President Gilbert Cruz told reporters the company would establish two more cement manufacturing facilities to add 10 million bags a month to its current capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz said its cement manufacturing facility in Porac, Pampanga produces 1.5 million bags a month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is expanding to meet the needs of the country which is exponentially requiring cement every year. Today, we are 22 million metric tons; five years from now, we will be 40 million metric tons. There is a lot of gaps that we have to fill in so we should be building more, and we should not rely on imports,\u201d he said on the sidelines of BBCI&#8217;s product launch Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz said the company targets to support the government\u2019s \u201cBuild, Build, Build\u201d infrastructure program through \u201cwhatever we can produce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BBCI chairman Henry Sy Jr. also serves as chairman of listed real estate giant SM Prime Holdings Inc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Big Boss Cement Inc.
