(BBCI), targets to spend around PHP2 billion for expansion of its manufacturing plant in Porac, Pampanga in its bid to increase production capacity to meet the country\u2019s growing demand for cement.<br \/>\nBBCI President Engr. Gilbert Cruz told reporters its Porac cement plant will start in March producing 1.5 million bags of cement per month, generating PHP3.6 billion in revenues a year.<\/p>\n<p>Cruz noted the production capacity of the plant can still be increased five times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince we were able to acquire more land in the area, we decided to increase the capacity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the company will also build a third plant in Luzon probably in six months, as it rides on the government\u2019s \u201cBuild, Build, Build\u201d infrastructure program.<\/p>\n<p>Citing data from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Cruz said all the existing manufacturing plants in the country cannot cope up with the rising demand for cement estimated at 40 million metric tons over the next five years.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed there is an artificial oversupply because of importations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you go down to the bottom of it, there\u2019s still a huge demand for the lack of cement.\u00a0 The company\u2014Big Boss\u2014we believe that we should be able to help the country to fill in this demand instead of relying on imports,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, BBCI, a 100-percent Filipino-owned company, has invented a revolutionary cement manufacturing process that results in stronger structures and the most environment-friendly cement in the world today.<\/p>\n<p>Its patent-pending manufacturing process makes use of readily available raw materials, such as lahar and does not require excessive heat in order to produce high quality products.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited at the prospect of making a positive impact not only in the local construction industry but also in terms of decreasing air pollution and damage to the environment,\u201d Cruz added.Its first product will be available in the market in March 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u00a0&#8212; New local cement player, Big Boss Cement Inc.
