{"id":145495,"date":"2018-01-11T03:50:27","date_gmt":"2018-01-11T08:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=145495"},"modified":"2018-01-11T03:50:27","modified_gmt":"2018-01-11T08:50:27","slug":"saskatchewans-express-entry-sub-category-opens-for-400-new-applications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2018\/01\/11\/saskatchewans-express-entry-sub-category-opens-for-400-new-applications\/","title":{"rendered":"Saskatchewan\u2019s Express Entry sub-category opens for 400 new applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>First opening of first-come, first-served sub-category in 2018 announced January 10<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_145499\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-145499\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Optimized-saskatchewan-flag-300x200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-145499\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Optimized-saskatchewan-flag-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: CIC News\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-145499\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: CIC News<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The province of Saskatchewan\u2019s\u00a0International Skilled Worker \u2013 Express Entry\u00a0sub-category has opened to 400 new applications.<span id=\"more-10078\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/saskatchewan-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program<\/a>\u00a0(SINP) made the announcement on the morning of January 10 and said the first come, first-served sub-category will remain open until the application threshold of 400 is met.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-SaskatchewanExpressEntry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Skilled Worker \u2013 Express Entry sub-category<\/a>\u00a0does not require a job offer or a connection to Saskatchewan. Instead, it enables the SINP to nominate individuals who are already in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship\u00a0Canada (IRCC)\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener\">Express Entry<\/a>\u00a0pool with the necessary education, skilled work experience, language ability, and other factors to help them settle successfully in Saskatchewan.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants who receive a provincial nomination under this Express Entry sub-category receive an additional 600\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive Ranking System<\/a>\u00a0(CRS) points.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of 2017, this sub-category opened five times to a total of 3,200 applicants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince this sub-category opens without advanced notice, it is important that interested Express Entry candidates be prepared and have their documents in order so they can quickly apply when it does,\u201d says Attorney David Cohen, senior partner with the Canadian immigration law firm Campbell, Cohen.<\/p>\n<h3>Minimum Eligibility Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>In order to be eligible for the SINP\u2019s International Skilled Worker \u2013 Saskatchewan Express Entry sub-category, candidates must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have proof of legal status, only if he or she is currently residing in Canada; (It is important to note, however, that candidates\u00a0<strong>do not need to be residing in Canada<\/strong>\u00a0to be eligible for this sub-category)<\/li>\n<li>Have an Express Entry Profile Number and Job Seeker Validation Code;<\/li>\n<li>Score a minimum of 60 points out of 100 on the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/sinp-international-skilled-worker-category.html#InternationalSkilledWorker-SaskatchewanExpressEntry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SINP point assessment grid<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Provide language test results from a designated testing agency that match the language level declared in the\u00a0Express Entry profile;<\/li>\n<li>Have completed at least\u00a0one year of post-secondary education or training which is comparable to the Canadian education system and which has resulted in a degree, diploma, or certificate;<\/li>\n<li>Have a minimum level of work experience related to their\u00a0field of education or training in a highly skilled occupation (NOC 0, A, or B) in one of Saskatchewan\u2019s 35 in-demand occupations (See in-demand occupations list below);<\/li>\n<li>Have at least one of the following in the field of education or training occupation:\n<ul>\n<li>One year work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled profession (non-trades),<\/li>\n<li>Two years work experience in a skilled trade in the past five years; or<\/li>\n<li>Twelve months work experience in Canada in the past three years (trades and non-trades).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Obtain proof of eligibility for Saskatchewan licensure if their\u00a0profession\u00a0is regulated in Saskatchewan and requires mandatory (compulsory) certification or licensing; and<\/li>\n<li>Have proof of sufficient settlement funds and a settlement plan.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"bottom-btn\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/assess\/canada-immigration-assessment-form.htm?site=cic&amp;cat=artbot#skw=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Find out if you are eligible for the SINP or any other Canadian Immigration program by filling out our FREE online assessment form<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>SINP In-Demand Occupations List<\/h3>\n<p>There are currently 35 occupations on Saskatchewan\u2019s In-Demand Occupation List, of which 12 do not require any professional licensure in order for a nomination to be issued. It is important to note that the full list has expanded and contracted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2017\/08\/understanding-new-saskatchewan-in-demand-occupations-list-obtaining-licensure-089439.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">since it came into effect
