TORONTO \u2014 Rising Canadian R&B-soul singer Daniel Caesar is getting some heavy rotation on Barack Obama’s speakers and headphones.<\/p>\n

The former U.S. president has shared a list of his favourite songs of 2017, and the Oshawa, Ont., musician’s name shows up twice.<\/p>\n

Among Obama’s selections is \u201cBlessed\u201d from Caesar’s Grammy-nominated album \u201cFreudian.\u201d<\/p>\n

Caesar also appears on Chance the Rapper’s \u201cFirst World Problems,\u201d a performance the pair debuted on Stephen Colbert’s late-night show last September.<\/p>\n

Other tracks on Obama’s list include Top 40 hits like \u201cMi Gente\u201d by J Balvin & Willy William, \u201cSign of the Times\u201d by Harry Styles, and Kendrick Lamar’s \u201cHumble.\u201d<\/p>\n

There are also critically-acclaimed songs like the National’s \u201cThe System Only Dreams in Total Darkness\u201d and Andra Day’s \u201cRise Up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 22-song list continues a tradition Obama started during his presidency of sharing a music playlist and a selection of his favourite books.<\/p>\n

Caesar will contend for two Grammys later this month. He’s nominated in the best R&B album category while the song \u201cGet You\u201d is up for best R&B performance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
