{"id":140885,"date":"2017-12-20T21:25:32","date_gmt":"2017-12-21T02:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=140885"},"modified":"2017-12-20T21:25:32","modified_gmt":"2017-12-21T02:25:32","slug":"7-day-tdf-attracts-higher-bids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/12\/20\/7-day-tdf-attracts-higher-bids\/","title":{"rendered":"7-day TDF attracts higher bids"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_135062\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-135062\" style=\"width: 960px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BSP.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-135062\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BSP.jpg\" alt=\"FILE: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)  (Photo: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas\/Facebook)\" width=\"960\" height=\"638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BSP.jpg 960w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BSP-300x199.jpg 300w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/BSP-768x510.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-135062\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FILE: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) (Photo: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas\/Facebook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA \u2014 Yield of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas\u2019 (BSP) seven-day Term Deposit Facility (TDF) declined Wednesday but its bid coverage ratio improved after the facility attracted bids higher than the offering.<\/p>\n<p>Data released by the central bank showed that weighted average accepted yield of the shorter-dated facility went down to 3.4004 percent from 3.4542 percent during the auction last week.<\/p>\n<p>However, its bid coverage ratio improved to 1.1553 from last week\u2019s 0.9730 after the PHP40 billion offering was met by tenders amounting to PHP46.212 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Citing the central bank\u2019s liquidity forecast, BSP Deputy Governor Diwa Guinigundo said the projection is for the BSP to mop up as much as PHP40 billion in this week\u2019s auction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince the 28-day TDF was scrapped and the BTr rejected all bids recently banks competed for the unchanged volume of the seven-day TDF,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the BSP announced that it will not be offering the 28-day facility due to sustained undersubscription in the recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>This is due in part to the recent sale by the Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) of Retail Treasury Bond (RTB), wherein it issued a total of PHP255.4-billion worth of five-year retail securities.<\/p>\n<p>RTBs are called as such because they are intended for small investors, since minimum placement is PHP5,000 and additional investments are also on increments of PHP5,000.
