(Shutterstock)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program, one of Canada\u2019s Provincial Nominee Programs, has received an additional nomination allocation for 2017.<\/p>\n<p>News of the increase was announced December 18.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Ontario\u2019s Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration said the exact number of additional nominations would only be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>The news follows\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2017\/11\/ontario-reaches-nomination-allocation-for-2017-119875.html\">an update on Nov. 22<\/a>\u00a0in which the OINP said it had met its allocation of 6,000 nominations under Canada\u2019s Provincial Nominee Program for 2017.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the increase, the OINP says it will continue to process applications and issue nominations until the additional allocation is met.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, any applications submitted that exceed the OINP\u2019s nomination allocation will also be processed and successful applicants will be nominated in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The OINP<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/ontario-provincial-nominee-program.html?site=csn&amp;cat=art\">\u00a0accepts applications under 10 different immigration streams<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ontario will likely benefit from a slightly larger allotment in 2018 under the federal government\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cicnews.com\/2017\/11\/canada-welcome-nearly-one-million-new-immigrants-through-2020-119798.html#gs.DlL2D1Y\">multi-year immigration plan<\/a>, which was announced in early November.
