{"id":140366,"date":"2017-12-19T04:27:59","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T09:27:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=140366"},"modified":"2017-12-19T04:27:59","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T09:27:59","slug":"obama-criticizes-trumps-ending-of-amnesty-for-young-immigrants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/12\/19\/obama-criticizes-trumps-ending-of-amnesty-for-young-immigrants\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama criticizes Trump\u2019s ending of amnesty for young immigrants"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump\u2019s decision on Monday to cut a policy that has provided for &#8220;Dreamers&#8221; or those 800,000 people brought to America illegally as children, did not sit right for his predecessor, Barack Obama.<\/p>\n<p>In a facebook post, Obama lambasted Trump, saying that his decision was \u201cwrong,\u201d \u201cself-defeating\u201d and \u201ccruel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stated in his post, \u201cTo target these young people is wrong \u2014 because they have done nothing wrong. It is self-defeating \u2014 because they want to start new businesses, staff our labs, serve in our military, and otherwise contribute to the country we love.
