{"id":140339,"date":"2017-12-19T04:10:56","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T09:10:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=140339"},"modified":"2017-12-19T04:10:56","modified_gmt":"2017-12-19T09:10:56","slug":"de-lima-calls-out-dutertes-claims-vs-ombudsman-and-chief-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/12\/19\/de-lima-calls-out-dutertes-claims-vs-ombudsman-and-chief-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"De Lima calls out Duterte\u2019s claims vs. ombudsman and chief justice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Senator Leila De Lima on Thursday slammed President Rodrigo Duterte&#8217;s claim that Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales and Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno are allegedly displaying \u201cselective justice\u201d amid the killings under the government\u2019s drug war.<\/p>\n<p>De Lima said in statement that there is \u201cgreat and morbid irony in hearing the president complain about selective justice in his tirades against OMB and CJ\u201d given that she sees the \u201cpoor and defenseless dying in the streets while the rich, powerful and influential are shielded from the shoot-from-the-hip brand of justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. President, who are you to cry foul about selective justice?\u201d De Lima said.<\/p>\n<p>De Lima cited the cases of former senators, Ramon \u201cBong\u201d Revilla Jr. and Jinggoy Estrada, who are still able to defend themselves in the ongoing trials before the Sandiganbayan even after they have been duly charged with involvement in the PDAF scam as well as that of Former Sen.
