(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BcsCPPZnLkm\/?taken-by=garimonroferos\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/garimonroferos\/\">garimonroferos\/Instagram<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>President Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday jumped to his granddaughter Isabelle Lovelie\u2019s defense after her recent pre-debut photo shoot in Malaca\u00f1ang was criticized by the public.<\/p>\n<p>Isabelle Duterte, daughter of Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and ex-wife Lovelie Sangkola Sumera, took a team of sought after stylists and make-up artist to the Palace last Thursday for a photo shoot in preparation for her 18th birthday celebration.<\/p>\n<p>During the 39<sup>th<\/sup> birthday celebration of Senator Manny Pacquiao in General Santos City, Duterte said the photo shoot of her granddaughter in the Presidential residence is a non-issue.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAno ba naman \u2018yan? Kadugo ko \u2018yan eh.<\/em> Small matter, <em>gamitin lang \u2018yung<\/em> Malaca\u00f1an. <em>Wala naman ako doon<\/em> (Come on. She is my blood. That\u2019s a small matter, she just used Malaca\u00f1ang. I was not even there),\u201dDuterte said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut even if I was there, <em>itong<\/em> granddaughter <em>ko magpa<\/em>-picture, <em>lahat nga ng mga bisita pumupunta diyan, nagpapa-<\/em>picture <em>eh <\/em>(She just had her photos taken, all visitors who went there does the same thing),\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Malaca\u00f1ang earlier defended the Presidential granddaughter, saying that this matter should not be an issue and that her team probably underwent proper documentation prior to the photo shoot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything has to go through a process here. If I\u2019m not mistaken even <em>\u2018yung pagpasok sa<\/em> (just the mere entry) Malaca\u00f1ang has to be recorded somewhere, it has to be approved,\u201d Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque told Malaca\u00f1ang reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not know who requested but they already opted not to live in the Palace. <em>Kung ginusto nila, pwede silang tumira doon<\/em> at our expense. <em>Hindi naman po nila ginawa \u2018yun. \u2018Wag naman po nating ipagkait \u2018yung <\/em>photo opportunity <em>sa loob ng Palasyo <\/em>(If they want, they could live there at our expense. They did not do that. Let\u2019s not deny a photo opportunity inside the Palace)<em>,\u201d <\/em>he added.<\/p>\n<p>Roque likened Duterte\u2019s grandchild to ordinary Filipino people who have their photos taken in Malaca\u00f1ang.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Gaya sila ng ordinaryong mamamayan na pwedeng magpa<\/em>picture-picture <em>sa <\/em>Malaca\u00f1ang\u00a0(They are like ordinary citizens who can have picture-taking in Malaca\u00f1ang),&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The public&#8217;s criticism came after Isabelle\u2019s stylists shared on Instagram photos of her pre-debut photo shoot.<\/p>\n<p>In the photos, the Presidential granddaughter was seen wearing various outfits, including a gown in a deep crimson shade designed by Garimon Roferos, a Davao-based designer who also made waves in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>The photos caused a stir among netizens particularly the one in which Isabelle is seen posing in between the Philippine and Presidential flags and under the Presidential seal.<\/p>\n<p>According to Roque, the soon-to-be debutante did not violate any law or executive order when she took a photo of her by the Presidential symbols.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSa akin, wala namang masama doon. Nag-<\/em>pose <em>lang<\/em> for birthday pictures <em>yung apo ni Presidente<\/em> (To me there\u2019s nothing wrong with that.
