(Photo: MIMS)\" width=\"531\" height=\"567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/dengvaxia.jpg 531w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/dengvaxia-281x300.jpg 281w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-135592\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Abad explained that this amount was used to purchase the vaccines. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mims.com\/thailand\/drug\/info\/dengvaxia\">(Photo: MIMS)<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA\u2014<\/strong>\u00a0The Congress should have been informed about \u201chuge\u201d transactions made by government, such as the purchase of dengue vaccines worth PHP3.5 billion, before it pushed through, a senator said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito made this remark a day after the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee probe into the issue, insisting that while it might have been done in good faith, there was still \u201cundue haste\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>It may be recalled that former budget secretary Florencio Abad confirmed that the amount used to purchase the vaccines was not in the General Appropriations Act (GAA).<\/p>\n<p>Abad said the government instead used savings from the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund (MPBF) since it would no longer be usable after the end of the year it was purchased, 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this huge sum of transaction, shouldn\u2019t they have informed the Congress about this?
