Given this trend, candidates who are interested in applying to the stream are advised to be prepared by reviewing eligibility and ensuring all documentation is close at hand and up-to-date.<\/p>\n<p>The NSDEE is\u00a0for highly-skilled individuals with a post-secondary education and the qualifications to integrate successfully into Nova Scotia\u2019s labour market.<\/p>\n<p>Category B:\u00a0Paid Work Experience in an Opportunity Occupation requires at\u00a0least one year of continuous full-time (or 1,560 hours or more) or an equal amount in part-time paid work experience in the last six\u00a0years in one of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/nova-scotia-demand-express-entry.html#OpportunityOccupations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"alternate noopener\">opportunity occupations,<\/a>\u00a0which are defined as professions for which there may be\u00a0employment opportunities in Nova Scotia (please see table below).<\/p>\n<p>To apply under Category B, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Have a profile registered in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada\u2019s Express Entry system.<\/li>\n<li>Score 67 points or more on the stream\u2019s six selection factors.<\/li>\n<li>Have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in one of our target occupations.<\/li>\n<li>Have a Canadian high school credential or equivalent.<\/li>\n<li>Prove language ability in English or French at Canadian Language Benchmark 7.<\/li>\n<li>Show enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The stream\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/nova-scotia-demand-express-entry.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unique point-system<\/a>\u00a0awards eligible applicants points based on language proficiency, age, work experience, education, and adaptability. The stream allows Nova Scotia to nominate a limited number of candidates in the federal government\u2019s Express Entry pool, which includes candidates from the federal government\u2019s three economic immigration classes \u2014 the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canadian-skilled-worker-immigration.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canada-federal-skilled-trades-program-fstc.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC)<\/a>, and the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/canadian-experience-class.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Canadian Experience Class (CEC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates in the Express Entry pool are ranked according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/comprehensive-ranking-system.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)<\/a>. A candidate who obtains a provincial nomination is awarded an additional 600 CRS points, placing them well within reach of being invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent draw from the Express Entry pool.<\/p>\n<p>The NSDEE\u2019s Category A: Arranged Employment in Nova Scotia remains open. Applicants to this category must have an arranged job offer supported by a positive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/labour-market-impact-assessments.html\" rel=\"alternate\">Labour Market Impact Assessment<\/a>\u00a0from a Nova Scotia employer.
