Espenilla Jr. said, is one way of helping the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from plastic utensils, other recycled materials used for this year\u2019s decorations are used iron bars, scrap bars and rope lights, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis only shows that we can celebrate and decorate while saving the environment\u2026that little creativity and creativeness can go a long way,\u201d he said in a speech read by Monetary Board Member Juan D. De Zu\u00f1iga, Jr. during the lighting ceremony Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Architect Marie Martinez, BSP Facilities Management and Engineering Department Acting Deputy Director, said the central bank has been using recycled materials for its Christmas decors for about four years now.<\/p>\n<p>She said collecting and cleaning the materials as well as conceptualization starts as early as January.<\/p>\n<p>Ideas for the Christmas decorations are presented to utility personnel, who in turn give additional inputs, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez said using recycled materials is among the advocacies of the BSP to help the environment and make the decorations cost-effective.
