MANILA\u00a0— To check on troops’ readiness and morale, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff Gen. Rey Leonardo Guerrero is conducting a series of visits in various military installations in the country.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed by Col. Edgard Arevalo, military public affairs chief, in a message late Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Also on Tuesday, Guerrero visited Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City and Air Force headquarters in Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.<\/p>\n

Arevalo said the AFP chief is slated to visit Navy headquarters in Roxas Boulevard, Manila on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

“This is one in the series of customary visit he had to different AFP Units \u2014 in Marawi, as well as other units in the frontline, and in Metro Manila,” he added.<\/p>\n

Arevalo said it the AFP chief’s duty as the commander to check on the readiness condition and the morale of the troops.<\/p>\n

Prior to his appointment as chief-of-staff, Guerrero commanded the Eastern Mindanao Command, the Jamindan, Capiz-based 3rd Infantry Division, the 701st Infantry Brigade, Task Force Davao, Commander, and served as chief-of-staff of the Philippine Army.<\/p>\n

Guerrero is also a decorated military officer having been awarded the Distinguished Service Star four times, the Order of Lakandula (Degree of Commander); the Philippine Legion of Honor (Degree of Officer); and the Honorary Airborne Wings from the Royal Thai Army.<\/p>\n
