at start of voters registration: Comelec"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_112751\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-112751\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/COMELEC_Seal.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-112751\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/COMELEC_Seal.png\" alt=\"Jimenez noted that based on the number, the people are still interested in participating in the forthcoming electoral exercises in the country.(Photo By Source, Fair use)\" width=\"250\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/COMELEC_Seal.png 250w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/COMELEC_Seal-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-112751\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jimenez noted that based on the number, the people are still interested in participating in the forthcoming electoral exercises in the country.<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/w\/index.php?curid=6496369\">(Photo By Source, Fair use)<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA\u2014<\/strong>\u00a0A good number of applications for registration particularly from the National Capital Region (NCR) has been recorded during the first week of the ongoing voters registration, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez reported that an average of 150-200 people have submitted applications for registration in Metro Manila.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross various registration centers in Metro Manila, the daily total averaged to 150-200 applications for registration,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Jimenez noted that based on the number, the people are still interested in participating in the forthcoming electoral exercises in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first week of registration showed that the public remains very interested in participating in elections,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile these applications have yet to be screened by the Electoral Registration Board, as required by law, we can be confident that a significant number of new voters will be added to the rolls, in time for the 2018 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections,\u201d Jimenez added.<\/p>\n<p>He said people also responded to their call to make use of the three-day holiday in connection with the holding of the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in the NCR this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring these &#8220;ASEAN holidays&#8221;
