ABS-CBN will air Top Rank Promotion\u2019s \u201cFeatherweight Fury\u201d which will be\u00a0held at the Cotai Arena of The Venetian Macao in a special telecast of the\u00a0brawl between Nonito \u201cThe Filipino Flash\u201d Donaire and the WBA\u00a0Featherweight Champion Simpiwe Vetyeka on Sunday (June 1) at 10:15 AM.<\/p>\n

Donaire promised to bring the beauty of boxing to Macao in his battle\u00a0against the South African champion who reportedly handpicked the Donaire\u00a0to be his opponent.<\/p>\n

Veteran boxing analyst Atty. Ed Tolentino said in an interview on ABS-CBN\u00a0Sports+Action’s “The Score” that Vetyeka is a \u201chungry champion\u201d and wants\u00a0to beat a high-profile boxer like Donaire.<\/p>\n

However, Donaire is equally hungry to prove himself after losing the\u00a0championship to Guillermo Rigondeaux and an underwhelming non-title fight\u00a0against Vic Darchinyan. In an interview with TV Patrol two days before the\u00a0fight, Donaire said he feels good and has had no problem trimming down to\u00a0the weight limit.<\/p>\n

The \u201cFeatherweight Fury\u201d will feature two other featherweight title fights\u00a0between Nicholas \u201cThe Axe Man\u201d Walters versus Vic \u201cRaging Bull\u201d\u00a0Darchinyan, and Evgeny \u201cThe Mexican Russian\u201d Gradovich versus Alexander\u00a0Miskirtchian.<\/p>\n

Prior to the fight, get up-close and personal with \u201cThe Filipino Flash\u201d\u00a0as ABS-CBN Sports+Action airs the replay of \u201cDonaire: Flash and Fire\u201d on\u00a0Saturday (May 31) at 12 PM.<\/p>\n

In the \u201cFeatherweight Fury\u201d press conference held in Manila, Donaire\u00a0admitted that one of his preparations involved going back to his roots,\u00a0choosing to train in the Philippines and having his father \u2013 the man who\u00a0introduced Donaire to the world of boxing \u2013 to train him for his bout.<\/p>\n
