Panfilo \u201cPing\u201d Lacson \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorPingLacson\/photos\/pb.824886400914694.-2207520000.1485986829.\/1360555557347773\/?type=3&amp;amp;theater\">(Photo:<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SenatorPingLacson\">Senator Ping Lacson\/ Facebook<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u00a0&#8212; Senator Panfilo Lacson on Friday took to social media his thoughts on the recent testimony of witness Mark Ventura, a former leader of the Aegis Juris fraternity, on what transpired during the initiation rites which supposedly led to the death of law student Horacio \u201cAtio\u201d Castillo III.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II earlier said that based on Ventura\u2019s testimony, the rites, which lasted for more than three hours, involved punching the victim, hitting him with a spatula and paddle.<\/p>\n<p>Aguirre further said that although Atio had already collapsed by the fourth paddle the frat men continued to hit him for the fifth time when the victim regained consciousness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur hearts go out to Atio\u2019s parents,\u201d Lacson said in his official Twitter account.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStruggling between relief and agony, they hate to hear what they have always wanted to know &#8211; what actually happened to their son that dreadful early morning of Sep 17, 2017,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Lacson is chair of the Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs conducting the Senate probe into Atio\u2019s hazing death.<\/p>\n<p>Ventura is the second frat member who spoke about the events that transpired before Atio\u2019s death.
