TORONTO \u2014 A 20-seat Italian diner in Quebec City has taken the top spot on the Canada’s Best New Restaurants list.<\/p>\n

Battuto is this year’s highlight on the list compiled by Air Canada’s enRoute magazine.<\/p>\n

Battuto is described as a 400-square-foot trattoria where chef Guillaume St-Pierre’s dishes include paper-thin rounds of Charlevoix-pork lonza and grilled octopus.<\/p>\n

Similarly small, chef-run spots nabbed second and third place \u2014 Canis in Toronto and Bar Von Der Fels in Calgary, respectively.<\/p>\n

Edmonton scored three restaurants on the list: Clementine, Cafe Linnea and Alder Room.<\/p>\n

The list was curated by enRoute’s restaurant critic Andrew Braithwaite, who dined in more than 30 new restaurants in his search for the 10 best.<\/p>\n

The winners were announced Thursday in Toronto and will be featured in the November issue of enRoute magazine.<\/p>\n

\u201cEdmonton felt like a different city than the one I’d visited on my four previous tours, and the new hockey arena is a game-changer,\u201d Braithwaite said Thursday in a release.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cocktail scene has always been strong, and there’s clearly a passion for creating art on the plate, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
