(Photo by Katrina.Tuliao (https:\/\/www.tradergroup.org) [CC BY 2.0)<\/figcaption><\/figure>MANILA \u2014 The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended the week\u2019s first trading day with gains unlike the peso, which was hurt by the general strengthening of the greenback.<\/p>\n<p>PSEi rose by 1.04 percent, or 84.85 points, to 8,256.28 points\u00a0 Monday after recovering last Friday .<\/p>\n<p>The broader All Shares tracked the main gauge, rising 0.54 percent, or 26.01 points, to 4,867.36 points.<\/p>\n<p>It was a mix for the sectors with Holding Firms, Property, and Financials rising by 1.97 percent, 0.94 percent, and 0.78 percent, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Mining and Oil fell 0.48 percent, Industrial by 0.36 percent, and Services by 0.28 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Volume for the day reached 1.4 billion shares amounting to PHP7.41 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Gainers led losers at 107 to 96 while 52 counters were unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>The peso, meanwhile, shed 26.5 centavos and finished the day at 51.08 from 50.815 Friday last week.<\/p>\n<p>It opened the day at 50.90 from 50.88 in the previous session.<\/p>\n<p>It traded between its opening level and 51.10, resulting in an average of 51.036.<\/p>\n<p>Volume for the day amounted to USD888 million, up from the USD740.3 million at the end of last week.
