What locations\u00a0will be named this year&#8217;s Great Places in Canada?<\/p>\n<p>Where do you like to hang out? Is there a street, neighbourhood or\u00a0public space you really love? Does your favourite location have the\u00a0charm and the attributes to be considered truly great?<\/p>\n<p>The fourth annual Great Places in Canada competition is about to get\u00a0underway:<\/p>\n<p>When: May 22, 2014, nominations begin<br \/>\nWho: open to all Canadians<br \/>\nWhere:\u00a0contest takes place online at http:\/\/www.greatplacesincanada.ca\/en\/<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an exciting contest with people from every corner of Canada\u00a0getting involved in voting for their special place,&#8221; said Michael\u00a0Gordon, President of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) which\u00a0hosts the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, over 100,000 people voted. &#8220;Canadians are very passionate\u00a0about the many wonderful locations in this country,&#8221; Gordon added. &#8220;So\u00a0there is a great deal of friendly rivalry over what street,\u00a0neighbourhood and public space will be recognized as Great Places this\u00a0year.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This year, nominations will be accepted from May 22 until August 19.\u00a0The voting period begins August 20 and ends September 25. Winners will\u00a0be announced on World Town Planning Day, November 7.<\/p>\n<p>Grand Prize winners are selected on the basis of planning excellence as\u00a0judged by a panel of experts.
