{"id":116023,"date":"2017-09-05T00:58:24","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T04:58:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=116023"},"modified":"2017-09-05T00:58:24","modified_gmt":"2017-09-05T04:58:24","slug":"bc-launches-immigration-tech-pilot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/09\/05\/bc-launches-immigration-tech-pilot\/","title":{"rendered":"BC Launches Immigration Tech Pilot"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_116024\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-116024\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/vancouver-skyline-300x200.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-116024\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/vancouver-skyline-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Source: CIC News\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-116024\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: CIC News<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With demand for talent outpacing supply, the Canadian province of British Columbia (BC) is looking to attract more workers and graduates in the technology sector to the province.<span id=\"more-9515\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The new\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-tech-pilot.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tech Pilot<\/a>\u00a0is part of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/british-columbia-provincial-nominee-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program<\/a>(BC PNP), one of Canada\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/provincial-nomination-program.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Provincial Nominee Programs<\/a>\u00a0(PNPs). Through this pilot, eligible candidates\u00a0<strong>with a job offer<\/strong>\u00a0in one of 32 eligible occupations may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination, which may then be used to apply for Canadian permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>The BC PNP will issue invitations on a weekly basis to\u00a0qualified registrants in the BC PNP registration system, while also continuing to invite non-tech candidates through its other immigration initiatives. Candidates invited under the Tech Pilot will benefit from expedited processing under the BC PNP.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants require a full-time, indeterminate\u00a0job offer from an eligible employer in BC. The BC PNP offers different categories for individuals under its\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.canadavisa.com\/bc-pnp-skills-immigration-registration-system-sirs.html\">registration System<\/a>, depending on their job, work experience, and level of education education.<\/p>\n<p>Once a candidate\u00a0has\u00a0determined his or her\u00a0category, he or she may register online for free and\u00a0receive a registration score. Every week (subject to processing capacity), the BC PNP will conduct a tech draw to invite the highest-scoring technology sector registrants to apply. From this point, invited candidates have up to 30 calendar days from the date of invitation to submit a complete online application. The government application fee is $700.<\/p>\n<p>BC has stated that it will process tech applications on a priority basis. If approved,\u00a0the applicant receives a nomination that he or she\u00a0can use to apply for permanent residence.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals who have been nominated and who meet the conditions of their nomination will receive a work permit support letter that allows them to obtain or renew their current work permit allowing them to work throughout the process.<\/p>\n<h3>Eligible occupations for the
