(Photo by Mithril Cloud at English Wikipedia [CC BY-SA 3.0)<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><strong>MANILA<\/strong>\u2014 An estimated PHP24.4 million worth of abortifacient drugs were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the BOC said Filipino passengers Reuben Jesse Bautista and Glenn More Gaddi onboard SQ918 Flight from Singapore were stopped after authorities found 34,910 tablets of Pfizer Cytotec Misoprostol 200 UG; 40,000 tablets of oral Pfizer Cytotec Comprimidos Misoprostol 200 MCG; and 3,500 tablets of Augmentin 625 MF Film Tablet Co-Amoxiclav in three pieces of luggage.<\/p>\n<p>The customs examiner conducted the 100 percent physical examination in the presence of the customs appraisers, Enforcement Security Service agent, Customs Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force (CAIDTF) supervisor, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and X-ray Inspection Project agents.<\/p>\n<p>The CAIDTF agents confirmed that the seized tablets are used for abortion.<\/p>\n<p>Customs agents requested the passengers to present the import declaration and corresponding Food and Drug Administration (FDA) import permit but failed to present such.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Collector for Passenger Services recommended a warrant of seizure and detention to NAIA District Collector Edgar Macabeo for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act Section 118, Bureau of Food and Drugs advisory no. 02-02ii and Food, Drugs, Devices and Cosmetics Act.<\/p>\n<p>The BFAD advisory warns all drugstore owners, pharmacists, consumers and all others concerned against dispensing\/selling and using an unregistered drug product known as Misoprostol (Cytotec).<\/p>\n<p>It added that manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale distribution, or transfer of any drug or device which is not registered with the Bureau is considered a violation of R.A. 3720 as amended.<\/p>\n<p>The pieces of luggage are now at the In-Bond Room at Terminal 3 while the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u2014 An estimated PHP24.4 million worth of abortifacient drugs were intercepted by the Bureau of Customs (BOC) at the Ninoy &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":85889,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1145,95],"tags":[20745,21200,22841],"class_list":["post-115948","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-headline","category-news-ph","tag-bureau-of-customs-boc","tag-ninoy-aquino-international-airport-naia","tag-p24-4m-worth-abortion-pills","mauthors-ferdinand-patinio-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/115948","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=115948"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/115948\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/85889"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=115948"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=115948"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=115948"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
