Tatay Tom, as he is fondly\u00a0called by everyone, said the foundation is an answer to the changing needs of newcomers\u00a0to Canada.<\/p>\n<p>He explained, \u201cThe foundation is neither above nor under the society, but\u00a0parallel to it. It has its separate board, separate func\u00adtions, and separate constitution and\u00a0by\u00adlaws. Meanwhile,\u00a0volunteer Agnes Tecson also presented the new website as an added resource for new\u00a0settlers.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from Ferrer, other well\u00adwishers during the event included Suzanne Anton, Minister\u00a0of Justice and BC Liberal Party MLA for Vancouver\u00adFraserview; MP Don Davis; Deputy\u00a0Consul General Anthony Mandap; Alan Yong, CEO of Times Telecom, Philippine\u00a0Canadian Inquirer and Juan Radio; Mrs. Miriam Ferrer, wife of Congen Ferrer; and\u00a0Cecilia Ampeso, wife of former consul general Jose Ampeso.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A support mechanism for the entire immigrant community was successfully launched on\u00a0May 16, 2014, in Vancouver B.C.
