Actor Robin Padilla has turned over a P5 million donation to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to help the children affected by the Marawi siege.<\/p>\n

The actor made the donation when he met President Rodrigo Duterte in Malaca\u00f1ang on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

President Duterte was present on the signing of the Deed of Donation (DOD) and witnessed the turnover of check to DSWD Undersecretary Emmanuel Leyco.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe P5 million donation is intended for the immediate psychosocial intervention for the children affected by the armed conflict in Marawi City,\u201d the Palace said.<\/p>\n

Rommel Padilla joined his brother along with Fisheries Development Authority General Manager Glen Pangapalan and Frabelle Foods Corp. President Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.<\/p>\n

Others who were present during the turnover ceremony were Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-staff General Eduardo A\u00f1o, DSWD Asst. Sec. Rodolfo Santos, and Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez.<\/p>\n

According to the AFP, various groups have conducted psychosocial aid in Marawi City to address the stress experienced by the displaced residents, particularly the children.<\/p>\n

Around 400,000 have been displaced since fighting between Islamic State-linked Maute terrorists and government troops flared up on May 23. This prompted President Duterte to declare Martial Law in the entire Mindanao.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
