MANILA \u2013 \u00a0\u00a0International Olympic Committee (IOC) Representative \u00a0to the Philippines, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, rallied our national athletes \u00a0participating in the 29th<\/sup>\u00a0Southeast Asian \u00a0Games \u00a0(SEAG) to \u00a0do their best and carry the values of Olympism -respect, friendship and excellence.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a true Filipino, and I\u2019m very excited to our athletes,\u201d she said. \u00a0\u201cSyempre naalala ko rin\u00a0 yung mga araw na competitor din ako.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cojuangco-Jaworski \u00a0was interviewed by PNA before Monday’s special board meeting of the Philippine Olympic Committee in Pasig.<\/p>\n

\u201cIm grateful for all the opportunites, for being an athlete,\u201d said the IOC official, who thanked \u00a0the millions of Filipinos who supported her and her team before.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m \u00a0praying that all our athletes would be able to maximize their talents \u00a0at the SEA Games , at maganda \u00a0syempre ang resulta ng mga atleta natin,\u201d said\u00a0 Cojuangco-Jaworski, also a \u00a0medalist in equestrian.<\/p>\n

The IOC official emphasized: “Focus in performing your best in the competitions, a few years after, \u00a0we realized that we had really precious experiences and memories. Kaya I\u2019m very excited for our athletes –the present, \u00a0their future, everything that they will experience sa SEA Games.\u201d<\/p>\n

She also told athletes to embrace the Olympic values – \u00a0respect, friendship and excellence, especially (they) have the opportunity to compete and represent our country.<\/p>\n

She said \u201cfair play come with respect, we have to play clean, we have to show respect in as much we want to be respected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn friendship, we are able to observe how they (athletes of ASEAN) \u00a0move and conduct their training, by doing so \u2013 we learn each other’s \u00a0culture and \u00a0become rich \u2013in heart and in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cExcellence–no matter what we are doing,\u00a0 we have \u00a0to strive to \u00a0do our best,” she said.<\/p>\n

In sports, she said one must work hard to get good results and eventually earn the respect of others including fellow athletes and competitors.<\/p>\n
