(PNA Photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MEXICO CITY, Aug. 3 &#8212; Brazilian President Michel Temer praised the lower house of parliament on Wednesday for rejecting a bribery charge against him, saying he would use his time in office to deliver on his pledge of reforms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The parliament\u2019s sovereign decision is not anyone\u2019s personal victory, but a victory of a democratic state based on the rule of law,&#8221; Temer said at a press conference.<\/p>\n<p>The Chamber of Deputees rejected the charge against him by 263 votes to 227. Two-thirds of the parliament were needed to pass the charge to the Supreme Court, which would trigger an impeachment trial.<\/p>\n<p>Temer will now serve out his term, which ends in December 2018.
