(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/allan_the_colorblind\/8763419963\/\" target=\"_blank\">Photo<\/a>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/allan_the_colorblind\" target=\"_blank\">Allan Asca\u00f1o\/Flickr<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by\/2.0\/\" target=\"_blank\">CC BY 2.0.<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>MANILA &#8212; Sea turbulence and light to moderate damages are possible in Northern Luzon&#8217;s Batanes province where government on Friday raised the tropical cyclone warning signal (TCWS) from 1 to 2, expecting 61 kph to 120 kph winds there in the next 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Such winds can fan there sea waves as high as 14.0 meters, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned in its Severe Weather Bulletin 10 released Friday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Storm surge is possible in coastal areas,&#8221; PAGASA said further.<\/p>\n<p>PAGASA urged caution, noting severe tropical storm &#8216;Gorio&#8217; (international name &#8216;Nesat&#8217;) already intensified into a typhoon this Friday and continues nearing Batanes.<\/p>\n<p>Government on Friday also raised TCWS 1 over Northern Luzon&#8217;s Babuyan Islands, expecting in the next 36 hours 30 kph to 60 kph winds that can cause there very light damages and waves up to 4.0 meters high.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Gorio&#8217; was 300 km east of Batanes&#8217; capital Basco municipality as of 4 p.m. Friday, noted PAGASA.<\/p>\n<p>That typhoon packed then maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 145 kph, PAGASA said.<\/p>\n<p>According to PAGASA, &#8216;Gorio&#8217; and the tropical depression over West Philippine Sea will continue enhancing the southwest monsoon or &#8216;habagat.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The enhanced &#8216;habagat&#8217; will bring moderate to occasionally heavy rains over Luzon&#8217;s western section, which includes Metro Manila, and light to moderate rains over rest of Luzon.<\/p>\n<p>Forecast movement of &#8216;Gorio&#8217; is northwestwards at 15 kph, PAGASA said.<\/p>\n<p>PAGASA expects &#8216;Gorio&#8217; to be 225 km north-northeast of Basco by Saturday afternoon (July 29).<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Gorio&#8217; will likely be 450 km north-northwest of Basco by Sunday afternoon (July 30) &#8211; already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, PAGASA added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA &#8212; Sea turbulence and light to moderate damages are possible in Northern Luzon&#8217;s Batanes province where government on Friday &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":33,"featured_media":105958,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1482,1145,16,95,9072],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-108778","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-breaking","category-headline","category-news","category-news-ph","category-weather","mauthors-philippine-news-agency"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108778","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/33"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=108778"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/108778\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/105958"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=108778"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=108778"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=108778"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
