BACOLOD CITY, July 25 — The City Health Office (CHO) reminded residents of Bacolod to practice the \u201c4S\u201d to prevent and control dengue.<\/p>\n

Dr. Grace Tan, head of the CHO Environment Sanitation Division, issued the reminder after dengue cases in Bacolod continued to increase as of this July 15.<\/p>\n

The “4S” means Search and destroy mosquito breeding places, use Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation for fever lasting more than two days, and Say no to indiscriminate fogging.<\/p>\n

Last week, CHO records showed that from January to July 8, cases reached 535 compared to only 290 during the same period last year.<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday, it increased to 610 cases, with six deaths. A seven-year-old girl in Barangay Tangub died last week.<\/p>\n

In the past months, fatalities due to dengue included a 10-year-old boy in Barangay Sum-ag, five-year-old boy in Barangay Singcang-Airport, an eight-year-old boy in Barangay Granada, a two-year-old boy in Barangay 14, and a 12-year-old in Barangay Handumanan.<\/p>\n

Tan said the CHO\u2019s advocacy is searching and destroying the breeding grounds of mosquitoes.<\/p>\n

\u201cPractice cleaning the surroundings not only outside, but also inside the house,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The top five barangays with the most number of cases include Vista Alegre, with 62; Mansilingan, 52; Granada, 42; Handumanan, 36; and Mandalagan, 33.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
