{"id":10598,"date":"2014-05-17T01:08:12","date_gmt":"2014-05-16T17:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=10598"},"modified":"2014-05-17T01:08:12","modified_gmt":"2014-05-16T17:08:12","slug":"ottawa-police-make-arrest-in-connection-serial-sexual-predator-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/05\/17\/ottawa-police-make-arrest-in-connection-serial-sexual-predator-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Ottawa police make arrest in connection serial sexual predator case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_34104697.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10600\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_34104697.jpg\" alt=\"shutterstock_34104697\" width=\"667\" height=\"356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_34104697.jpg 667w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_34104697-300x160.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 667px) 100vw, 667px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">OTTAWA\u2014A 25-year-old man faces multiple charges in connection with a string of violent sexual crimes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Police Chief Charles Bordeleau says Yousef Hussein of Ottawa has been arrested and charged in relation to six sexual assaults over the last two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Police began an investigation into three alleged assaults that took place between August of 2012 and October last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">But Hussein has also been charged in three other sexual assaults that occurred in March, June and October of last year and were not part of the initial investigation<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Hussein was scheduled to appear in court Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">He is charged with six counts of sex assault, three counts of overcoming resistance and two counts each of break and enter and committing an indecent act.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Bordeleau says investigators pulled out all the stops in trying to make an arrest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">And he commended victims for coming forward.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">\u201cIdentifying and arresting the person responsible for these crimes has been a priority for the Ottawa Police Service and I want to thank the investigators for their work,\u201d Bordeleau told a news conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">\u201cI especially want to recognize the great courage and resilience of the women who came forward to police. It\u2019s vital that these crimes are reported.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">More charges could be laid as the investigation continues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Bordeleau refused to discuss details of the investigation now that evidence is going before a court.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">Police received hundreds of tips after going public with accusations from three women that they were choked and sexually assaulted after being approached by a man as they walked alone at night.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>OTTAWA\u2014A 25-year-old man faces multiple charges in connection with a string of violent sexual crimes.
