{"id":10488,"date":"2014-05-15T23:13:52","date_gmt":"2014-05-15T15:13:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=10488"},"modified":"2014-05-15T23:13:52","modified_gmt":"2014-05-15T15:13:52","slug":"april-home-sales-up-from-march-but-down-from-year-ago-crea-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2014\/05\/15\/april-home-sales-up-from-march-but-down-from-year-ago-crea-says\/","title":{"rendered":"April home sales up from March, but down from year ago, CREA says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_121748014.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10489\" src=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_121748014.jpg\" alt=\"shutterstock_121748014\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_121748014.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/shutterstock_121748014-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">OTTAWA\u2014Canadian home sales were up 2.7 per cent from March to April, boosted by the Vancouver and Toronto markets, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">However, sales through the Multiple Listings Service were down 0.3 per cent compared with a year ago and one per cent below the 10-year average.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">The association says the April sales were up compared with March in half of all local housing markets, dominated by a rebound in Vancouver and Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">\u201cGreater Vancouver and Greater Toronto fuelled the anticipated spring pick up in national home sales in April which masked softer activity in a number of smaller markets,\u201d CREA president Beth Crosbie said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black;\">The national average price for a home sold in April was $409,708, up 7.6 per cent from a year ago.
