{"id":103003,"date":"2017-05-18T01:05:25","date_gmt":"2017-05-18T05:05:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/?p=103003"},"modified":"2017-05-18T01:05:25","modified_gmt":"2017-05-18T05:05:25","slug":"netflix-plans-download-zones-in-ontario-cottage-country-for-summer-long-weekends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/canadianinquirer.net\/v1\/2017\/05\/18\/netflix-plans-download-zones-in-ontario-cottage-country-for-summer-long-weekends\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix plans &#8216;download zones&#8217; in Ontario cottage country for summer long weekends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2013Netflix is giving Ontario cottage country dwellers an entertainment fix over holiday weekends this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The streaming video operator says it&#8217;s opening several temporary \u201cdownload zones\u201d that allow viewers to refill their mobile devices with fresh TV series and films.<\/p>\n<p>It begins this weekend with a Wi-Fi hotspot at Bass Pro Shop at Vaughan Mills on Friday and the Farmers Market in Collingwood, Ont., both Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for Netflix says employees will be on-site to guide users through the steps.<\/p>\n<p>Streaming companies have been expanding their downloadable content as more subscribers watch entertainment while in transit.<\/p>\n<p>Restrictive mobile data plans have made it costly for most Canadians to stream on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix began letting users download a limited selection of its TV and films last November.<\/p>\n<p>Other streaming video services such as Amazon Prime Video and Hoopla, which is used by some of Canada&#8217;s public libraries, also make content downloadable onto phones and tablets.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix says it will operate \u201cdownload zones\u201d at various Ontario cottage country locations on every holiday weekend until Labour Day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2013Netflix is giving Ontario cottage country dwellers an entertainment fix over holiday weekends this summer.
