(Photo by<a href=\"https:\/\/commons.wikimedia.org\/wiki\/File%3ANinoy_Aquino_International_Airport_Terminal_III.jpg\"> Lawrence Ruiz (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/4.0)],<\/a>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>MANILA\u2014The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Chinese fugitive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.<\/p>\n<p>BI port operations division chief Marc Red Mari\u00f1as identified the foreigner as Weng Wenmin, 51, who was intercepted at the immigration departure area of the NAIA 3 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Based on his report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, he said that the Chinese was supposed to board a Cebu Pacific flight to Hongkong.<\/p>\n<p>He was apprehended after the duty immigration officer who noticed in her computer that the passenger\u2019s personal details exactly matched those of a Chinese national who was included in a watchlist order issued by the BI chief last April 20 based on information that the latter is a fugitive and an undesirable alien.<\/p>\n<p>Weng was immediately turned over to members of the BI\u2019s border monitoring and security unit at the NAIA and was later brought to the agency&#8217;s detention facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City where he is now confined pending deportation proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Last April 19, the BI legal division filed immigration violation charges against the foreigner for being an undocumented alien and for posing a risk to public interest.<\/p>\n<p>After two days, the Chinese embassy\u2019s police attach\u00e9 informed the bureau that Weng is a fugitive wanted for economic crimes in China and that his passport had been canceled by the Chinese government.<\/p>\n<p>But, the Chinese embassy did not elaborate or provide additional details about the crimes that Weng committed and for which he will stand trial when he is deported to his country.<\/p>\n<p>The BI added that due to the cancellation of his passport, Weng\u2019s working visa issued by the bureau is deemed revoked as he had become an undocumented alien.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MANILA\u2014The Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Chinese fugitive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
