DSWD provides initial assistance to quake-hit areas in Batangas

MANILA–The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said Sunday it has provided intial response for those affected by the 6.0 magnitude earthquake which jolted Batangas.

DSWD Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo said that the assistance includes 30 tents for residents of Mabini, 600 blankets, 400 bottled water Tingloy 15 tents, 200 blankets, 100 bottled water; 20 hospital 20 tents, 5,000 ready-to-eat arroz caldo packs and 10,000 bottles of energy drinks.

The said relief assistance were all delivered in Batangas Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and Field Office of Calabarzon.

Taguiwalo also said that upon her instruction, DSWD Asec. for Special Concerns Anton Hernandez met with officials of the Batangas PDRRMO to further determine the scope of the needded assistance after the earthquake which hit the province Saturday.

The meeting was attended by offcials of the local government unit, executive director ng Office of Civil Defense Ricardo Jalad, Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, and Presidential Adviser for Region IV-A Dennis Hernandez.
