MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now investigating a total of 1,405 cases of killings or the so-called death under investigation (DUI).
Among these cases of DUI are the incidents of killing described as “cardboard justice” or killings being linked to suspected vigilante killings connected to illegal drugs.
PNP Public Information Office (PIO) Chief and Spokesman Senior Supt. Dionardo Carlos on Tuesday said from July 1 to Sept. 4, 2016, the total number of victims reached 1,894 individuals in the total number of incidents of killing that reached 1,686.
On the other hand, a total of 176 suspects were arrested while 105 suspects were released for lack of evidence during the same period.
Likewise, a total number of 1,033 individuals were killed in legitimate anti-illegal drugs operations of the PNP for the same period.
