For Encantadia fans all over the world, the pilot episode of the Kapuso series’ present-day version, which premiered worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV last July 18, was worth the 11-year wait.
Even prior to its pilot telecast, Encantadiks (as how fans of the show refer to themselves) have been expressing their excitement on social media to witness the beginning of the Kapuso Network’s retelling of one of its biggest and more successful fantasy series.
Minutes after the big launch, the hashtag #Encantadia became the number one trending topic on Twitter in the Philippines and worldwide as fans, old and new, took to the micro-blogging site to express their support and admiration for the return of the Kapuso show.
With the bar already set so high, viewers can expect no less than a visual feast in every episode, coupled with a riveting storyline that is truly Filipino in values and content.
“There’s so much more reasons to watch the show. Encantadia’s requel is one of the biggest projects in Philippine television. It’s the story that you’re going to get,” promised Encantadia director, Mark Reyes, who also directed the original version.
“Ang naging paghahanda rito [The preparations for this] – from the costumes to the script to the set hanggang sa graphics, lahat [to the graphics, and everything else] – three times bigger sa unang version [is three times bigger than the first version],” he shared.
Featuring a powerhouse cast, Encantadia 2016 is led by Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez, and Glaiza De Castro as the four Sang’gres or keeper of the four precious elemental stones that are integral to maintaining peace and order in the land of Encantadia. Playing special roles are Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes as Raquim and Ynang Reyna Minea.
