MANILA—Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago is feeling better now, according to the latest media advisory from her camp.
”She is scheduled to return from ICU to a private room. Further updates will be announced by her office soon,” Santiago’s media relations officer Chelsea Dauz said in a press statement.
Santiago, who joined the recent May 9 presidential election, was rushed to the intensive care unit of Makati Medical Center (MMC) on Tuesday night.
Santiago, who is sick and has suffered complication, was brought to the MMC on Monday but she was transferred from her private room to the ICU on Tuesday night.
In mid-2014, the senator announced that she has Stage 4 lung cancer, forcing her to give up her seat as a judge in The Hague-based International Criminal Court based in the Netherlands.
After announcing that she has beaten her cancer with the help of a ‘wonder pill’ in July last year, Santiago announced she might run for president which she did but landed in fifth place only with 1,455,532 votes.
