MANILA—Liberal Party (LP) standard bearer Mar Roxas on Friday said he is elated and continued to be heartened by the growing support that he and his running mate, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo, have been getting support from the “Silent Majority” movement.

“The movement on the ground is strong and growing, Damang dama namin hindi lang sa ka-Maynila-an, kundi sa iba’t ibang lungsod ng ating bansa. We are being welcomed by the Silent Majority wherever we go throughout the country,” Roxas said.

He said that members of the Silent Majority are not necessarily allied with the administration party, but ordinary people who care deeply for the future of the country.

Its members came from various sectors of society who have been silent, until recently, in their support for Roxas and Robredo.

The movement made its presence felt Sunday when thousands gathered at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila to watch on big screens the third and last presidential debate being held in Dagupan City, Pangasinan.

Those who attended the Luneta gathering came from the National Capital Region and outlying provinces.

“Hindi ito mga kaalyado ni Mar at ni Leni. Ito ang ordinaryong kababayan na talagang pinangangalagahan ang pinatutunguhan ng ating bansa at nais nilang magsuporta kay Mar at Leni bilang bilang mga karapat-dapat maluklok na pangulo at pangalawang pangulo,” Roxas said.
